After the training, all three of us were gun-ho to conduct our first deal. My daughter posted ads on Craigslist so we could start to find people to put on our buyer’s list. I researched properties on PropTrend, Realtor.com, and Zillow.com to find ones we wanted to look at. My husband and I went out every weekend with our realtor to look at properties.
We did this for about 3 months. We made a few offers but none were accepted and some of the properties were not worth the price because it would have cost more to fix them up than to tear them down and start over.
It was really disheartening not being able to make a deal after being pumped up from all the success stories. I thought to myself: Where are we going wrong? Is it our personality, our lack of understanding how the system works, or the lack of properties?
We made the decision to call the company and book our free trip to Las Vegas to get even more training and maybe learn what we are doing wrong since we had not made a deal yet. We scheduled our trip to the Buying Summit for July 2014, and because we had already told the company we were going to be a family business, they paid for all three of us, even though they usually only pay for two people.
