One day last winter I was driving around downtown Colorado Springs past one of the two Universities the city has and looked at some of the homes thinking we could make money buying property and renting to students, because the universities do not have enough on campus housing for all students. A few days later I saw a commercial saying that there would be a real estate investing training being held at a local hotel, so I took my husband with me, telling him of my idea for renting to students.
The training turned out to be an informative sales pitch to purchase more in-depth training. The information I got from the briefing was enough that I felt I could research to find out information on my own. My husband on the other hand got really interested and wanted to purchase more training since he felt that is what we needed to move forward with my idea. So he purchased the additional three day training that was going to take place in Denver in March 2014.
Once he purchased the training we were given a 12-disk set of information that we were encouraged to listen to before the three-day training in Denver, which went over a lot of information about real estate investing.
I told my husband and the company that if we were going to do this, it would be a family business and my oldest daughter would be involved, so we were able to get approval for all three of us to go to the training.
